So I guess that you can tell that I am somewhat new to blogging. I have let this thing go without attention for long enough. So here I am, back for your daily view in to our lives. Miss me?
I am happy to say that things around here have been running smoothly. One amazing thing that happened within the last 3 weeks is that Shiloh and Quinn are potty trained! Whoo-hoo!! It was weird how it happened really, they just decided with my mom that they didn't want to wear diapers anymore, and that was it. Although I see a lot of potty breaks, and endless trips to visit public restrooms in my future, I am so happy to never have to change another diaper again. Well I guess I shouldn't say that, they aren't night trained yet, but hey whatever, I'll take it!
We are having a nice start to the summer months so far. We have been to some parks, and just today visited a splash pad. I think now that Shiloh and Quinn are three, we are going to have so much fun out and about enjoying and experiencing new things. Next up, drum circle on Friday night.

Great Wolf Lodge? Great Wolf awesome!
This year for the kids third birthday we decided to take them to Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls. We didn't really know what to expect, but my goodness was it great. From the time we walked through the doors with a nice gentleman greeting us, to story time/family dance party at bed time, the customer service and the over all experience was unreal.
We went with my parents, so 3 generations of family all found the experience to be exceptional. Before we even made it to the indoor water park (which is the main attraction of GWL) my husband said that he loved it so much that we would be coming back every year! That says a lot for a hotel!
If you ever have the chance to go, then take advantage of the amazing customer service, clean hotel rooms, behond amazing lifeguards, kid friendly events and activities.
Did I say that we love GWL??

Paging doctor Shiloh.
Yesterday was the big day, Shiloh and Quinn turned three! I can hardly believe it, my 'babies' are no more. They are officially pre-schoolers.
We just kept this years celebrations pretty low key. With all of the illnesses that have been going around, I didn't think exposing them to other children would be the best of ideas. Anyways, on April 29th we are going to be going to Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls for their main birthday gift! They have no idea that we are going (or even what it is), but I am excited for them! My parents have decided to join in on the fun, so I don't think that I could have asked for a better birthday for my 'kids' (see, I refrained from calling them babies).
Although I said that their birthday was low key, that didn't mean that it wasn't great! My parents gave Quinn (and Shiloh) the best thing that the boy could ever have dreamed for. They gave him his own kitchen! Now the little guy has a place to "I cook" of his very own ♥ For a while now he has been make believing that everything is a kitchen, and that every book he owns is a plate. You can't take the kid in to a home repair store without him bee lining to the kitchen display so that he can 'cook'. He played with his new kitchen set for about 6 hours yesterday, and today he didn't even want his real breakfast that was made for him, he wanted to 'cook' one for himself. Does it get any cuter than that?
Shiloh was thrilled with her new doll house and doctor kit that she received. The little doctor even passed on bring her normal cabbage patch doll to bed in favor of bringing her new pink doctors kit. She worked hard all day making sure that we were all healthy and had nothing in our ears. She then made it her mission to do the same for the cat and dog. Much to their disdain I'm sure. (I'm a little worried that we might have developed a new fear of vets for Sunee the cat and our little dog Dakini).
All in all it was a wonderful day with some surprise visits from 3 out of 4 of their god parents.
Next year is four, and the next is the big five and the Magical Kingdom!

Maybe the bubble boys mom was on to something....
So where the heck I have been for the past while you may ask? Well I have been held hostage by flu bugs, runny noses, croup, asthma attacks, all night coughing, ear infections, and fevers. And just for sh*its and giggles another hospital trip. No not me, the kids.
As if the whole puke, diarrhea, seizure, hospital stay wasn't enough for my kids they have had to endure all of the above as well. Sean and I have made it out pretty much unscathed as long as you don't call this hell of a head cold I have had almost a week a problem.
Poor Quinn has been hit the hardest by it all. I think that with his asthma he is going to see the brunt of most of the bugs that fly around our home town. Breaks my heart to see either of my kids sick, but Quinn is just a sweet little bundle of love that it just about rips my heart of my chest when he is sick. All seems to be on the healing side of things (as of now), so lets just pray that their little immune systems are just working over time to build them selves up against anything that might come our way next winter.
Damn you illnesses, damn you to hell *shakes fist*

Don't tell me you have a migraine!
I have to say, that is one of my biggest pet peeves. It makes me so mad when people are just having a bad headache say they have a migraine. I mean, any headache sucks, but if you are standing there talking to me at work, or say to me "oh my migraine is so bad I could barley watch TV, or play my video game". Guess what, you don't have a migraine. A really bad headache is NOT a migraine.
OK, now that I have that of of my chest I will tell you about my migraines. I have been diagnosed with A-typical basilar artery migraines. I have seen 2 different neurologists, and have had 3 CAT scans, and 2 MRI's. On the last MRI that I had, they were able to pinpoint the start and what kind of migraine that I have. For years my family doctor wasn't convinced that I was indeed suffering from migraines since I don't get any of the normal symptoms that a migraine sufferer would get. I don't get the aura that people talk about, I'm not sensitive to light, and noise isn't all that bothersome for me. What does happen is, I can't stand the smell of anything. Even nice smells. If my bedding it too clean and smells like soap it makes me sick during a migraine. The right side of my face gos numb, and I look like I have suffered a stroke. I can't walk straight, and I have a lot of trouble talking. I can't seem to make any sense when I am trying to explain something. I also have memory loss. The doctors are at a loss of what to do. They just want to drug me up. I am not interested in that. Every medication they have tried has not worked.
So what have I tried to get rid of them, or at the very least calm them down you might ask.
-chiropractor (2 different ones)
-massage (3 different types)
-acupuncture
-acupressure
-crainosacro therapy
-reflexology
-reiki
-therapeutic touch
-ear candling
-aroma therapy
-hair pulling
-sound therapy
-nerve blocking (they inject botox in to the nerves)
-made changes to my diet
-kept a weather journal
-smoked cigarettes
You name it, I've tried it. So until you are driven to allowing someone to inject botox in to the back of you head, or had a "healer" spend over an hour pulling your hair.....you don't have a migraine.
That's all for today,
Shannon, headache bitch.

Oh so girly.
Yesterday was an awesome day :) Since all thoughts and attention have been on Quinn for the past week, I thought that it would be nice to have a mommy and Shiloh day. I had to drive about an hour away to the city that I used to live in to go and see my orthodontist, and so I brought my little girl with me.
We talked, car-danced and just hung out in the car, but we made a few stops on the way. Did the mall, a few children's clothing stores, and stopped for tea and muffins :) Pretty girly if you ask me.
While we were at the mall I thought that we would stop in and see if she wanted her ears pierced. She was all a go, picked out the earrings, sat in the chair, then freaked out and covered her ears and said no. hehe, I didn't think that she would go through with it. Looking forward to the day she does go through with it none the less :)
That's really all there is to report today.

What?! WHAT?
Yesterday was the big nut day, and I still can't get over it.....Shiloh and Quinn have no allergies! That's right, nothing that they were tested for came back postive :) The doctor decided to test them for all nuts, mold, dust, cat and dog, and other common allergins. Not one of them even turned red.
On our way home we stopped off at the grocery store to get some REAL peanut butter. No more soy-nut butter for this house! Today I bought nutella. I gave some to the kids on a toasted english muffin. They loved it so much that they didn't even bother to eat the english muffin, they just licked and sucked the hazelnutty goodness off. I have to say, I don't blame them.
Not much else to say today. I am off to lay down. I have made myself sick eating nutella.
Over and out from the crazy, Wilde, nut house!!
